WHAT IS HAIR TRANSPLANT?
A
hair transplant is a process by
which hair is removed from the
back of the scalp and placed in
other areas of the scalp, for
example, the hairline or in
other less dense areas.
HOW IS THIS
ACCOMPLISHED?
Hair
transplantation is a minor
surgical procedure that is done
in a physicians office. Hair
follicles (tiny organs, located
below the hair in the skin, that
cause hair to grow) are
dissected from a section of the
scalp in the back of the head
and transplanted in balding
areas with minor incision in the
form of a slit or in a hole made
by a needle. The patient may
resume their normal activity
within 24 hours.
WILL THE NEW HAIR GROW?
The
new hair will grow naturally.
This is your own hair which is
taken from a part of the scalp
which is genetically programmed
to grow as opposed to the hair
in the balding areas or in the
hairline which is genetically
programmed to fall out.
Follicular Units,
Minigrafts, Micrografts
Dr.
Markou achieves the most natural
hair transplant with the use of
follicular units, or simply put,
natural bundles of 1-3 hairs
that grow together in a group.
These natural bundles are kept
intact by dissection under a
microscope by highly trained
technicians, Micro Grafts, 1-2
hair grafts are used at the hair
line to complete a total natural
looking hair transplant.
WILL PEOPLE NOTICE MY
HAIR TRANSPLANT?
NO. Years ago
large grafts (plugs) were used
and a corn cob appearance was
often obtained. Dr Markou
performs follicular unit hair
transplant surgery which allows
for a completely natural
appearance.
